What Changes Will You Make This Spring?
Spring is such a beautiful time of the year. Flowers are blooming, birds are singing and the weather becomes more comfortable for outdoor activities for those in three or more season cities. Spring is a great time to reflect on the year prior as well as how your year has started. You may ask yourself, “Have I been sticking to my health and fitness plan?” “Have I succeeded in achieving any short-term goals?” If you are off-track, kick things into gear. The following are ways that you can recharge and make a fresh start for the Spring:
1.) Start with self-care. When you look good, you feel good. Try a new hairstyle or cut. Do research online or by reading through magazines to find inspiration for your new style. Pinterest is also a great place to find styles.
2.) Get some fresh air. With the weather warming up, this is the perfect time to take your workout outdoors. Try walking in your neighborhood or a local park. Walking with friends is a great way to catch up and burn calories. Your cardiovascular system will thank you.
3.) Stop and smell the roses. Visit a local nursery or botanical garden. The bright colors of the flowers and fresh smells are sure to pick you up. If you have a green thumb, try planting a small herb garden. Herbs are a healthy way to season your food and a great salt/seasoning alternative.
4.) Find inspiration. Do your research and google your topics of interests. Look for thought leaders in those areas, and read articles and or watch videos about the topics you enjoy. This is an excellent way to learn more about your areas of interests and learn from the success and failures of others.
5.) Clean-up your social media. Facebook has a feature where you do not have to unfriend a friend but you can “Unfollow”. Block unnecessary negativity out of your life. Reduction of drama can help you start the Spring fresh.
6.) Make your ears happy. Try some new music or listening to your favorites. The fun thing is you can find many of your favorite albums on YouTube. Therefore, they are accessible from almost anywhere. Music can bring back great memories and good times. Add a nice walk in as you listen to your favorite songs.
7.) Approach your work with a new perspective. If you have a salaried position, look at your job as if you are a subject matter expert and you have been hired for your expertise. Think about the value that you bring to the organization and the problems that you can solve. Make sure that you gain the insight of others. Collaboration is a wonderful way to get your ideas heard in the workplace. If you are an entrepreneur, re-visit your business plan, and ensure that you have implemented your strategies as well as adjusted as necessary.
Think of Spring as an opportunity to start new. This past winter was good for staying in as a caterpillar but now it’s time to experience metamorphosis and grow into the butterfly that you are.
